THE KENTUCKY DERBY, REV. DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR., MURDER CONSPIRACY
Think about the Kentucky Derby and what it means and represents to the city of Louisville, Kentucky today. The gobs of wealth it brings to Louisville, the entire state, and beyond.
Now imagine the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., at his peak after his famous "I Have a Dream" speech in Washington, D.C..
Picture him in Louisville in 1967, protesting for civil rights and threatening to shut down the Derby over open housing! "No Open Housing, No Derby!" was the chant. Protestors were known to lie down on the track before the start of a race! It was huge! And serious. City leaders called in 2500 national guardsmen and the KKK threatened to intervene. Louisville's prided Kentucky Derby Brand was on the line, Louisville's bag was at stake--its livelihood, its generational wealth!
Dr. King and his younger brother were a powerful team in Louisville fighting for civil rights for Blacks. They had set up shop in Louisville as early as 1965, his brother, A.D. King, buying a home, pastoring a church, and heading the Kentucky Christian Leadership Conference, organizing Blacks in Louisville's west end for protests and demonstrations throughout the city. Reports confirm that Dr. King was in Louisville as early as 1957. But his biggest impact on Kentucky and civil rights was in 1964 when he led 10,000 people for the "March on Frankfort", the state's capitol. But why was the second-largest demonstration for civil rights at the time (second only to King’s earlier March on Washington) erased from Kentucky's history books? Why did the local media in Louisville not air King’s dealings in the city at the time until over 50 years later? Read and find out. Tell me if you see what I see...
